Scroll saw boxes
This again is a combination of woodworking and acrylic painting. several layers of thin wood placed together give the image a 3-dimensional look.
Grampa
This was my design, and it is 6 layers of hardboard with different elements so when they are sandwiched together, they make a 3-dimensional picture. Each layer is cut with a scroll saw and painted with acrylic paint.
Checkmate
This was made for my brother who is a chess master and has written over 40 chess books, I designed it myself and it is the same process as above!
Process
I designed each layer in my graphic program and determined what elements I wanted on each layer using the layering of Affinity Photo (You can use Photoshop). I printed them on full sheet label paper and adhered them to each wood board. I cut each one out with a band saw and scroll saw and then sanded, painted and glued each layer together. Then I added a small fame and painted it black and attached the crown and king cutouts, Ready to hang!
