Sculptures

The Family

I made this sculpture of the family out of clay many years ago when the kids were little. It represents and my wife with our three daughters. Now the Kids are grown with kids of their own, so I finally got around to finishing it. The sculpture was done in air-dry clay, so I had to coat it with a hardener and then sand and painted it with acrylic paint and then sealed it. Had to cut off my clay ponytail which I had back then to make it relevant to me today. Ha!

"The Kiss"

My wife's favorite painting is Gustav Klimt's "the Kiss" (She has 3 of them in the house). So, I made for her a sculpture of the painting for our 41'st anniversary! I rough cut it out with foam attached to a wood base. Then I overlayed it with air dry clay and sculpt it in more detail. I covered it with hardener, sanded and painted it in acrylic and sealed it. I am surprised how light it is with the foam core!
